Clippers' DeAndre Jordan was so bleepin' happy to hear the Astros won Game 7

DeAndre Jordan didn’t get to hunker down in front of a television set to watch Game 7 of the 2017 World Series on Wednesday night. He was a little bit busy making light work of the woefully overmatched Dallas Mavericks, scoring 13 points on 4-for-5 shooting, pulling down nine rebounds, blocking two shots and snagging a steal to help his Los Angeles Clippers cruise to a 119-98 victory at Staples Center. As the Clippers wrapped up a nice bounce-back win, a few miles away in Chavez Ravine, the Houston Astros were putting the finishing touches on a decisive 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers to earn the first World Series championship in franchise history.

When Jordan — born and raised in Houston, forever repping his hometown with the Astros’ H-star logo tattooed on his right shoulder — found out the result on the sidelines during a stoppage in play, the big man couldn’t help but letting loose with a forceful two-word exclamation that ESPN had to censor:

“Astros, m**********r” is about as succinct an expression of joy as you could ask for under the circumstances. As someone who has trouble with brevity, I salute you, DeAndre.

Similarly, we tip our caps to Jordan for staying true to his hometown team … even though plenty of L.A. fans in the stands at Staples might have felt more like crying in their beer than cursing in elation. Oh, well. Back when the Dodgers played where I live, they used to have a saying about just this sort of situation. Here’s hoping those fans can find some solace in those words, and Jordan can find some time to catch up on what he missed while he was dunking all over the Mavs.
