  • A TikTok video recently went viral for drawing a connection between Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge.

  • A user pointed out that one of the costumes at the end of Halloweentown II looks very similar to Sarah Sanderson's outfit in Hocus Pocus.

  • Hocus Pocus (1993) and Halloweentown II (2001) are both being shown on Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween on Saturday, October 17.

Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus fans are about to go wild after learning about this major Easter egg theory.

Eagle-eyed TikTok user @lyssalyssalyssahh went viral on the app recently for her video claiming there's a sneaky reference to Sarah Sanderson (Sarah Jessica Parker) in Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (2001). Though the two Disney films are not part of the same franchise — and were released eight years apart — the TikToker explains that when Sophie (Emily Roeske) transforms random people into magical creatures at the end of Halloweentown II, one of them looks a lot like the blonde Sanderson Sister from the 1993 classic. Take a look in the video below, and you'll see why everyone is freaking out:

Comparing the Halloweentown II character with Sarah Sanderson, the TikTok user exclaimed, "Is this, or is this not, Sarah Sanderson's exact outfit?!" She then asked the next logical question, "Does this mean that Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown exist in the same universe?"

Of course, it could just be a funny coincidence. But then again, given that both are Disney films, it's possible that Halloweentown II director Mary Lambert was purposefully and subtly paying tribute to Hocus Pocus, which has amassed a huge fan following over the years. Regardless, it's still a clever connection to make, and one that the Tumblr page Recycled Movie Costumes called out back in 2016 as well, according to E!.

We've probably watched all of the Halloweentown movies and Hocus Pocus a dozen times by now, and we still never caught this ground-breaking Easter egg. It makes us wonder what other Easter eggs in our favorite Halloween movies we've missed over the years ...
