Wilson said he also prayed for a woman like Ciara: He wanted a woman who was both faithful and of faith, who was independent, who would love him like his mother loved his father, and a woman who could "tilt the room."

Who is Russell Wilson?

Wilson was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Richmond, Virginia, the child of a lawyer father and nursing director mother. He attended NC State and University of Wisconsin—Madison, playing football for both. He previously played for the Seattle Seahawks starting in 2012, when he beat Ben Roethlisberger's rookie record in passer rating. Wilson played with the Seahawks for back-to-back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014. In early 2022, he was traded to the Denver Broncos.

Wilson has also played baseball professionally, mostly in minor league affiliate teams, once pinch-hitting for Aaron Judgeduring a 2018 New York Yankees game.

Wilson and Ciara tied the knot on July 6, 2016, at a castle in England after getting engaged in March of that year. They are still quite happily married to this day. Ciara and Wilson were open about practicing celibacy before getting married.

Ciara first met Wilson on March 26, 2015, at a Wisconsin basketball game. Wilson recalled that they talked all night and he fell for the singer almost immediately. He said he knew Ciara was the one when they both ordered their late-night snacks the exact same way: Double cheeseburgers with only ketchup.

During their first date, Wilson said that Ciara noticed he had a worn-out wallet and told him he was "losing with that." He recalled replying, “I put my finger up and said, ‘First of all, with me, you’re never losing. Second of all, with that wallet, that means consistency. That’s what you’re going to get from me.
