A new Silent Hill movie might be on its way as director Christophe Gans teased that he was penning a new script for the series.

During an interview with French magazine Jeuxvideo, the director stated that the new movie could be set for a 2023 release, and as horror evolved, he worked on updating the film from his first entry in the series. He compared the movie to The Twilight Zone, which gives us a good idea of what type of film we could expect from Gans.

"The script for a new Silent Hill movie that is totally independent from the two previous movies made and respects the way Silent Hill has evolved," Gans said. "Most of the time, these are stand-alone stories. Silent Hill is a bit like Twilight Zone, the Fourth Dimension, a place where anything and everything can happen. I worked on a new Silent Hill which is a Silent Hill of the year 2023 since the film would be released next year, in 2023, and not a Silent Hill as I imagined it in 2006. It is a Silent Hill for today's audiences while being ultra respectful of the saga. I am aware that Silent Hill is a very great video game franchise and a work of art in the noble sense of the term."

There has yet to be any official news on who is involved in the film or when it will be released. However, there is a possibility that this time it might be released on a streaming platform as opposed to the big screen.

The franchise was first made into a film from a video game with a $50 million USD budget in 2006 and made $100 million USD in return. The studio decided to create a sequel six years later.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Paramount is being sued over Top Gun: Maverick.
