We all know the premise of this Christmas movie: A young boy named Ralphie wants a BB Gun for Christmas, and his mother is deeply worried that he’ll shoot his eye out. Then, somewhere throughout the 94 minutes, we get a pink bunny costume, a leg lamp, and a mean Santa Claus and his elves. It’s quite the rollercoaster, and one we don’t get sick of even on Christmas Eve when it’s played for 24 hours straight.
The best thing about Department’s 56 village is that you can decide which pieces you want without having to purchase them all. So you can add Ralphie’s house, his family, Cleveland Elementary School, or a poor kid whose tongue is stuck to a freezing cold flag pole. Or, you can get them all! The porcelain buildings light up to give your village an extra twinkle. You can use the pieces in your preexisting village or clear a tabletop to create a new A Christmas Story one.
