Christmas parades, Baby Shark and more events in Franklin County this November

November is the time to start celebrating Christmas in Franklin County, but there is still plenty of other things to do this month.

Here are some featured events, listed in chronological order.

Baby Shark Live!: 2022 Splash Tour

2 p.m. Nov. 5

Shippensburg

At H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University, Baby Shark, Pinkfong and their friends will explore shapes, colors, numbers and more through song in this one-of-a-kind immersive experience that will have kids and kids at heart dancing in the aisles. Songs will include "Five Little Monkeys," "Wheels on the Bus," "Jungle Boogie," "Monkey Banana Dance," and of course, "Baby Shark."

Veterans Day Parade

10:15 a.m. Nov. 11

Chambersburg

Cumberland Valley 21-Day Retreat will host this annual celebration of military veterans. The parade typically begins at Fifth Avenue and proceeds west on Lincoln Way to Memorial Square, where a ceremony takes place.

This year, Downtown Chambersburg Inc. will stream the event live on Facebook at bit.ly/3sCkXER.

Salute to Veterans

3 p.m. Nov. 13

Chambersburg

The Capitol Theatre will salute veterans with a patriotic concert by the Hagerstown Municipal Band, directed by Lynn Lerew. Special guests include Bob Eyer Jr. on the Moller pipe organ and U.S. Air Force Band trumpet soloist (retired) John Pursell. The Chambersburg Area Senior High School Junior NJROTC Color Guard will be there.

Tickets are $35 ($30 for ages 60-plus, military, frontline workers) and $25 for students under 18 or with college ID through thecapitoltheatre.org.

Lip Sync Battle

7-9 p.m. Nov. 18

Mercersburg

Dress up as your favorite singer and give it your all lip-syncing a catchy song at Star Theatre, 23 W. Seminary St., Mercersburg. Individuals and groups are welcome. To sign up, send a message with your artist and song title to Star Theatre on Facebook. There is a $10 entry fee. Prizes will be awarded.

Greencastle Christmas Parade

9:21 a.m. Nov. 19

Verstanding Broadcasting and Antrim Way Honda host the 37th annual holiday parade, which begins at Ridge Avenue and runs west down Baltimore Street.

Tree lighting: The annual Heritage Christmas Tree Lighting event begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 18 in Center Square.

Waynesboro Christmas Parade

2 p.m. Nov. 19

Mainstreet Waynesboro hosts the 65th annual holiday parade. The parade runs east down Main Street, from Cumberland Valley Avenue to Enterprise Avenue.

Tree lighting: The event takes place 5-8 p.m. Nov. 18, with the tree lighting at 7 in the town square.

Chambersburg Christmas Parade

6-8 p.m. Nov. 19

Downtown Business Council will host the 52nd annual holiday parade. Beginning at North Main and King streets, the parade will proceed south and turn east on Washington Street, then north on Second Street and disband at Grant Street.

Tree lighting: As is tradition, Santa Claus will close out the parade and turn on the lights of the town's Christmas tree in Memorial Square.

Festival of the Trees

Nov. 19 through Dec. 2

Chambersburg

Franklin County Visitors Bureau hosts this fourth annual holiday celebration at its 11/30 Visitors Center, 15 S. Main St., Chambersburg. It officially opens at 4 p.m. Nov. 19.

Check out the many trees and wreaths decorated by local organizations, then vote on your favorite. Guests can buy four ballots for $1.

There will also be a silent auction where guests can bid on their favorite trees and wreaths; bid in person, call 866-646-8060 or email fcvbfestivaloftrees@gmail.com. Bid amounts will be displayed at the visitors center and at explorefranklincountypa.com.

Voting and bidding will close at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and winners will be announced that evening. Proceeds benefit the Cumberland Valley Breast Care Alliance.

The Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club will have a holiday model train display.

Admission is free.

Small Business Saturday

Support businesses in your community by shopping small this holiday season. As Black Friday and Cyber Monday are traditionally big shopping days for national retailers, Small Business Saturday encourages people to head to their local downtowns to do their Christmas shopping. In Chambersburg, the Chamber of Commerce hosts an event where people can get credit if they spend a certain amount at downtown businesses that day.

'A Very Electric Christmas'

7:30 p.m. Nov. 26

Shippensburg

The stage of H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center at Shippensburg University will light up with "electroluminescent artistry" during this live show. From Luhrs: "When a young bird travelling south for the winter gets blown off course, he ends up in the North Pole — and his true adventure begins! Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms and performing poinsettias light up the stage in Lightwire Theater's A Very Electric Christmas." It includes music from Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey and Tchaikovsky.
