Christina Grimmie's killer, Kevin Loibl, was allegedly infatuated with her, TMZ reports. According to the site, he would listen to her music often and tell his coworkers that she would be his wife someday.
Loibl, 27, shot and killed the season 6 Voice contestant, 22, after her concert in Orlando on June 10. The singer's brother, Marcus, tackled the gunman, who then killed himself.
Loibl's Best Buy coworkers have reportedly spoken to TMZ following the incident. (Loibl was a part of the company's Geek Squad.) They claim Loibl went as far as changing his appearance for Grimmie. He allegedly got hair transplants and Lasik eye surgery, and went on a vegan diet to lose weight.
TMZ says Loibl even told his coworkers that he met the young star — and played online games with her. (The news outlet reports that Grimmie had never met Loibl before.) When he learned that she had a boyfriend, however, he became angry, which allegedly led to her shooting.
As previously reported, Grimmie's family and fans gathered in Evesham Township, New Jersey, for a hometown vigil on Monday. A funeral for the late singer will be held at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford, New Jersey, on Friday.
Marcus opened up about the tragedy during the vigil earlier this week. "Christina was awesome. She loved this town, she loved this state, she loved singing, she loved the Lord and she loved me. She was my baby sister," he said at the time. "The tragedy that took place was at a free meet-and-greet postshow. I missed the first glimpse, but witnesses say she was arms open wide [to the shooter]. She had no idea and she treated everybody the same."
