Last week, HGTV’s Christina Anstead announced that she and husband Ant Anstead were separating. After their super secret yet lavish wedding and adorable photos together, the news came as a surprise to us. But as we know, what we see on social media isn't always the truth. When it comes to Christina and Ant's marriage, they were allegedly struggling behind-the-scenes.

People spoke about the couple's split with an unnamed source, who noted that the pair was having a hard time navigating life as a blended family. In 2018, when they said "I do," they each brought two children from their previous marriages into the family (both of whom they coparent with their respective exes). Not to mention, Christina and Ant were quick to start having their own babies together. Four months after getting married, Christina announced she was pregnant with their first child. In September 2019, Hudson London Anstead was born. Just days after celebrating his first birthday this month, Christina announced the difficult news.

"After the baby, they started having conflicts," the source told the outlet, adding that despite having a full house, Christina was "lonely and unhappy." In fact, "Christina found it difficult to balance everything" and "their marriage was struggling."

In the five days since the split, Christina was spotted back at work on the Flip or Flop set, in which she stars alongside ex-husband Tarek El Moussa (who is currently engaged to Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young). She also threw a Paris-themed birthday party for her daughter. While she has been active on Instagram, Anstead is currently not following anyone. She also deleted her wedding photos with Ant off the platform. However, she did keep some photos with him, including photos with their friends, and a few selfies of the couple. "She never expected to get a divorce," the source said, "but she is doing okay and focusing on the kids."
