Christina Aguilera Shared Her "Euphoric" Ear Piercing Experience on Instagram
When you think of body piercings, you probably think mostly of an immediate, sharp burst of pain. But not if you're Christina Aguilera: In an Instagram post on Monday, the singer explained that she associates getting a new piercing with the purest state of happiness. You do you, girl.
"Forgot how much I love getting pierced....so euphoric for me...wonder what else I should get done again 🤔😈 🔮✨" Xtina captioned the post. Among the five attached photos are a few shots of Aguilera, showing off her freckles through her freckled no-makeup glow, getting a new earring put in, plus a close-up of the man behind the piercing gun, Brian Keith Thompson. She also included a diagram of her piercings that was published by Rolling Stone in 2002; at the time, she already had 11, including five in her ears and two more on her nipple and genitals, and swore she'd never pierce her belly button ("too played out") or tongue ("very sorority").
In the latest issue of Paper magazine, Aguilera posed makeup-free and spoke about how she's learned to express herself throughout her career by changing up her look on a regular basis, via new outfits, hair colors, and, of course, piercings. "I've always been someone that obviously loves to experiment, loves theatrics, loves to create a storyline and play a character in a video or through stage," she said. "I'm a performer, that's who I am by nature."Aguilera, who said she'll allow 3-year-old daughter Summer Rain to experiment with her own look when she gets a little older, also shared a valuable piece of advice: "Be fearless in breaking new boundaries and don't be afraid to go against the grain of criticism along the way."
