Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato fire up fans with inspirational, uplifting duet
Christina Aguilera has teamed up with Demi Lovato for “Fall in Line,” the latest single off Aguilera’s new album, Liberation, which is due out June 15.
The song is a celebration of individual empowerment, with a chorus that pulls no punches: “I got a mind to show my strength / And I got a right to speak my mind/ And I’m gonna pay for this / They’re gonna burn me at the stake / But I got a fire in my veins / I wasn’t made to fall in line.”
It also speaks to the “young girls” out there, urging them to know their worth. “You deserve to know / That in this world, you are not beholden,” Aguilera sings in the soaring, vocally expansive duet. “You do not owe them your body and soul.”
For anyone who might not have gotten the message, Aguilera confirmed on her Instagram account exactly what the tune was meant to convey. “To anyone who’s ever felt silenced and repressed, the truth seekers and bold thinkers… may you liberate your voice and break the mold, never back down, and never fall in line,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Lovato described the collaboration as “BUCKET LIST ITEM 1” on her own Instagram account, adding, “I hope you love this song as much as I do. It’s such an honor to lend my voice to this anthem for women with one of the most inspiring individuals I’ve ever met.”
