They Have a Sweet Origin Story
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen probably fell in love for a lot of reasons, but there are a few instances in their courtship that stand out.
Started From the Bottom
They both had humble beginnings to their now hugely successful careers.
Legend began to play piano when he was 4, and was soon writing and performing his own songs. He got into the business because his former roommate at the University of Pennsylvania was Kanye West's cousin. The roommate of course hooked him up with West, and the rest is history. Legend's 2006 debut won him three Grammys.
Teigen's parents, who met in Thailand, were tavern owners in Washington state. Her mother later moved to Thailand to take care of Teigen's grandmother. Teigen then moved to Huntington Beach, California, and worked at a surf shop. A talent scout later found her and took her picture, launching her modeling career.
It Was Fate
How the two actually met is another heartwarming story.
Teigen later appeared on a 2006 music video Legend appeared in, since by now he was a star.
Teigen apparently wanted to meet him, and when she went into his dressing room, she saw that he was ironing his clothes.
But these weren't any clothes -- Legend was ironing his underwear. How many people do that? She asked him, "You do your own ironing?"
Legend spoke with People in 2017, and had this to say about Teigen, noting that opposites do indeed attract.
“We were always different…. I was always a little bit more buttoned up, and she was always more brash and free.”
“I think she’s brought me out of my shell a bit and made me enjoy life a little bit more.”
Her Texts Were Good Even Then
Because of her quick wit and her social standing today, Teigen is a social media influencer, a cookbook author, an actor and a TV host. She's also a mother of two.
Legend says he was also attracted to Teigen and her sense of humor, which we all get to see almost every day on her Twitter page.
Soon after their relationship "got serious pretty quickly," Legend told Vanity Fair, her bubbly and hilarious personality drew him even closer to her.
“She just entertained the hell out of me, texting me. What people respond to in her tweets today was the same energy in those texts. I didn’t know that I wanted someone funny until I was actually with someone funny," he said.

All of these facts point to why Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are such a great celebrity supercouple.
They started life humbly, and have never lost their sense of humor. Plus, who wouldn't be attracted to either of them? It's a win-win.
