Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are expecting another baby! Known for their playful relationship and hilarious social media presence, the Hollywood power couple have openly discussed their fertility struggles. Teigen suffered a devastating pregnancy loss in 2020, and she also went though various in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles over the years. Now the couple is excited to welcome a rainbow baby to their clan, which already includes two children—Luna, 6, and Miles, 4. Here's everything you need to know about the soon-to-be family of five.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's Relationship

Model, television personality, and cookbook author Teigen, 36, met singer-songwriter Legend, 43, in 2006, while starring as his love interest in his "Stereo" music video. After several years together, Legend proposed to Teigen on a Maldives vacation in December 2011.

The couple tied the knot in a New York City courthouse in 2013, following Vera Wang's New York Fashion Week runway show. Model Irina Shayk beared witness. Once the marriage was deemed official in the states, the newlyweds traveled to Lake Como, Italy, to ring in the nuptials with their friends and family.

Chrissy Teigen's Pregnancy and IVF Journey

Teigen took to Instagram to announce her first pregnancy in 2015, two years after marrying Legend. They welcomed their oldest daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, on April 14, 2016. About two years later—on May 17, 2018—the model gave birth to Legend's mini-me, Miles Theodore Stephens. Both children were conceived through IVF.

The couple announced their third pregnancy in Legend's "Wild" music video in August 2020; the final scene showing them walking along the beach with their two children, then cradling Teigen's burgeoning baby bump. Teigen confirmed the suspected pregnancy on Twitter shortly afterwards.

Having conceived Luna and Miles through IVF, the supermodel never expected to experience a natural pregnancy. "Anyone who knows me knows I have taken a pregnancy test nearly every month since I was 21," Teigen responded to a Twitter follower. "I know it's weird. I just always, always wanted to see a positive. This was the time!"

However, in September, 2020, Teigen shared news of a pregnancy loss. It happened in Teigen's second trimester, after she was put on bed rest and hospitalized due to pregnancy complications.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before," she captioned her emotional post. "We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we've been able to experience. But every day can't be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

While the couple doesn't typically choose a name until the last possible moment, they had already begun calling their unborn child Jack. "He will always be Jack to us," she wrote. "Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever." She got the name tattooed on her right wrist in honor of him.

Another Baby on the Way

About 1.5 years after the pregnancy loss, Teigen revealed that she would be going through IVF again "to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos," according to her Instagram post from February 2022 . This August, she shared good news: another baby is on the way!

"The last few years have been a blur of emotions, to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again" Teigen captioned her August 2022 Instagram photo, which showcased her baby bump in an all-black outfit. "1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way."

Teigen also revealed she was hesitant to share the pregnancy news at first—probably given the heartbreaking loss she experienced in 2020. "Every appointment I've said to myself, 'ok if it's healthy today I'll announce' but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I'm just too nervous still. I don't think I'll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I'm feeling hopeful and amazing."
