Chrissy Teigen Was “Really Angry” About Those Trump Tweets

If you’re a devoted scholar of Twitter feuds, you already know Chrissy Teigen and President Donald Trump came to virtual blows earlier this week. Trump attacked Teigen and her husband, John Legend, via Twitter after Legend appeared on MSNBC’s criminal justice reform town hall on Sunday, calling Legend “boring” and dismissing Teigen as his “filthy-mouthed wife.”

While “filthy-mouthed wife” is a fascinating entry in the internet’s Wife Taxonomy, perhaps falling somewhere between “curvy wife” and “cliff wife,” it would arguably be better if the President of the United States and commander of the Armed Forces was not spending his time on Twitter engaging in flame wars with celebrities. For her part, Teigen appeared unfazed, calling Trump out for not tagging her and describing him as a “pussy ass bitch.”

Now, though, Teigen is admitting the emotional toll that the exchange took, telling Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday, “I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it. That I can’t believe this really happened to me right now. He just goes on these rants and—usually very late at night for him—you just wait for him to say something, but you don’t think it’s going to be [about] you.”

Teigen owned Trump’s descriptions of herself and her husband, telling DeGeneres, “John is boring. I do have a filthy mouth. But when it’s you, when the card lands on you that day, it’s like, ‘Oh, crap,’ because your whole night is ruined.” Teigen admitted she and Legend spent the rest of the night discussing how to respond, before bouncing back on Ellen with a rousing game of “Chrissy, Can You Fill in Your Blanking Tweets?” (Unblank her, you cowards.)

Teigen might be comfortable lobbing swears at the president via Twitter, but there is one person who inspires her to hold her tongue: her three-year-old daughter, Luna. “I don’t talk about Trump in front of my daughter,” Teigen told TMZ over Luna’s squeals. Hopefully, come November 2020, she won’t have to.
