Chrissy Teigen shared some ~very~ big news on Instagram this week: She just welcomed a fourth baby with her husband, singer John Legend, via surrogate. The news comes just a few months after the couple gave birth to daughter Esti The model, 37, revealed the news with several slides of text and some absolutely adorable shots of alongside a few shots of her already-quite-apparent baby bump. And she looked so darn happy.

It's been a long road to this pregnancy for Chrissy and John, and it certainly hasn't been easy. After a tragic pregnancy loss back in 2020, Chrissy has been open about her journey to continue building their brood.

“The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again,” she wrote in her IG caption. “One billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.”

But when is Chrissy due with her rainbow baby? Here’s what you need to know.

When did Chrissy announce the news?

Chrissy announced the news on Wednesday, June 28, on Instagram with a sweet and candid post about the journey, her love for their surrogate, Alexandra, and more details about her new son's name.

"For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted four children," the post reads. "After losing Jack, I didn't think I'd be able to carry any more babies on my own. To be honest, I've personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn't go through that pain and loss again."

Instead, they opted to try a surrogate after losing their baby, Jack, in 2020. "In 2021, we reached out to a surrogacy agency, with our first correspondence inquiring about perhaps having 2 tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl. Twins, kinda?!"

The couple ended up trying one more time with IVF and an embryo transfer, and conceived Esti. Still, they had fallen in love with their surrogate and decided to go ahead with their surrogacy plan for another baby.

The comments on Chrissy's post were flooded with well wishes from famous friends and strangers. “Congratulations love, I am so happy for you!!🥰,” said Paris Hilton. “Congrats to your incredible family!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” wrote Mandy Moore.

When was the new baby born?

Wren Alexander was born on June 19, just before midnight, which makes him around five months younger than his sister, Esti.

Who is the surrogate?

It's not totally clear who, exactly, Alexandra is, but clearly she and Chrissy are close.

Chrissy posted a photo of their pregnant surrogate and said that she got to "witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate" give birth. She also thanked Alexandra for helping them build their family.

What's the baby's name?

It's a boy! Chrissy and John welcomed baby Wren into their family of five. Oh, and Chrissy let everyone in on a little sweet anecdote. Their son's middle name is Alexander, likely named for their surrogate, Alexandra.

She said it was "a name forever connected to you," while addressing their surrogate in the post, so one can only assume!

"Our hearts, and our home, are officially full," Chrissy added. So sweet!

How many kids do they already have?

Chrissy and her husband, John Legend, have three living children—daughter Luna, 6, son Miles, 4, and daughter Esti, roughly five months.

What happened during her rainbow pregnancy with Esti?

Chrissy made it clear on Instagram that she was nervous about her fourth pregnancy—which is understandable after she experienced a terrible pregnancy loss back in 2020.

“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘Ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce,’” she wrote in her Instagram post.

“But then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still.” She continued, “I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”

She also posted a TON with her growing baby bump before Esti's birth. In mid-October of 2022, she posted about "feeling the flips of my little belly buddy" while posing in a cute minidress. Of course, John was there to hype her up: "Fine AF."

She lost her baby Jack at 20 weeks in 2020.

Two years ago, Chrissy and John lost a baby they had named Jack when she was already 20 weeks into her pregnancy. Chrissy was candid about the experience in an emotional Instagram post and Medium story afterwards.

“On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it,” she wrote at the time.

In her Medium story, Chrissy shared that she had been diagnosed with a placental abruption, which is what happens when the placenta separates from the inner wall of the uterus before birth, causing the baby to be deprived of oxygen and nutrients, per the March of Dimes.

“After a couple nights at the hospital, my doctor told me exactly what I knew was coming—it was time to say goodbye,” Chrissy wrote. “He just wouldn’t survive this, and if it went on any longer, I might not either.”

She was doing IVF.

Chrissy shared in a February Instagram post that she was doing another cycle of IVF, or in-vitro fertilization.

“I honestly don’t mind the shots…they make me feel like a doctor/chemist…but the bloating is a bitch, so I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!” she wrote at the time.

“But also like please stop asking people, anyone, if they’re pregnant. I said this in the comments and got yelled at because the internet is wild but I’d rather be the one to tell you and not some poor woman who will look you in the eyes through tears and that’s how you finally learn. Anyhow, Iove youuuuu??”

Everyone is thrilled for you, Chrissy and John!
