Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 is getting ever closer to filming, as Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, has taken fans behind the scenes in a new set video.

Written and directed by the returning James Gunn, who's recently released his gloriously bonkers soft reboot The Suicide Squad, this MCU threequel also features Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel as regenerative tree-creature Groot.

Black Mirror's Will Poulter enters the game as newcomer Adam Warlock too, an artificial being created by the Sovereign race's Ayesha in vol 2.

In the aforementioned video, Pratt addresses the camera from a production trailer wearing his character's sharp sideburns.

"What's up everybody, Chris Pratt here," he begins. "I'm on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 and this is day one–that's why these sick-ass mutton chops are back, pretty sweet. I'm very excited to be here."

Gunn later clarified that filming hasn't officially started and Pratt was taking part in "camera tests and stuff", but we'll take all the new Star-Lord content we can get.

The director wrote: "Chris is on set and we're rehearsing and doing camera tests and stuff - so it's his 'first day' like it was my 'first day' many months ago - but actual shooting is a while off. Btw, I didn't even know about this video when I first posted this."

And that's where the Guardians material ends, as the actor was really speaking out to promote Rob Lowe's new podcast Parks and Recollection, which revisits the beloved sitcom Parks and Recreation in its entirety.

Elsewhere, back in July, Gunn teased of his third Guardians adventure: "The script has basically been written for a long time. I've been playing with it in little ways over the years, but it's basically stayed the same since three years ago.

"It's pretty heavy actually. It's a heavier story, so it's an emotional process to go through."
