Although Katherine Schwarzenegger’s brother kind of beat them to the punch, Chris Pratt and the new mom still got to introduce their first child to the world on their own terms.
On the morning of Monday, August 10, Entertainment Tonight reported that Schwarzenegger and Pratt had welcomed their first child together. Though the couple had not released a statement, her famous parents, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, were recently spotted at their house, while her brother Patrick Schwarzenegger confirmed the news in a video.
However, the sex and the name of the child was still kept under wraps—until now. In a new Instagram post, Pratt shared the happy news with his followers. “We are beyond thrilled to announce the birth of our daughter, Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger Pratt,” he wrote on August 10. “We couldn’t be happier. Both mom and baby are doing great. We are extremely blessed. Love Katherine and Chris.”
The actor also shared two Bible passages in relation to the couple’s happy news. “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy,” he quoted from Psalm 126:3, before continuing to share Psalm 127:3-4. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.”
Schwartzenegger posted the same image with the first part of the message on her own page.
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger announced their engagement in January 2019, within just a few months of taking their relationship public. They were married six months later. Although this is the new mom’s first child, Pratt also shares a son, Jack, with his ex-wife, Anna Faris.
