Chris Hemsworth has thanked his fans for their "continued support" after Netflix revealed that Extraction is the streaming service's most successful original movie ever.

The platform released the Top 10 list earlier this week, which saw the film best the likes of Murder Mystery, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, as well as Martin Scorsese's three-hour awards darling The Irishman.

Other titles that made the cut, but didn't manage to beat the action thriller, include Bird Box, which ranked at number two, and Spenser Confidential, The Platform and 6 Underground.

Responding to the news, Hemsworth took to Instagram to share a screenshot of Deadline's original report alongside the caption: "Can't thank everyone enough for the continued support of Extraction! Still going strong and sitting at number 1 biggest film ever for Netflix. You guys are the greatest."

Based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks and directed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction follows Hemsworth's Tyler Rake, a black market mercenary who is forced to carry out his most dangerous mission yet – rescuing the kidnapped son of a notorious crime lord.

Just recently, screenwriter Joe Russo teased that the film's prequel-sequel is set to "up the scale" in every way possible.

"I started writing three weeks ago," he told ET Online. "It's a great character to write for, with a fantastic performance from Hemsworth. So it makes my job easier. I think the mission is to up the scale on this one, both emotionally and physically."
