Chloë Sevigny Credits Her Good Skin to Not Having Children

Chloë Sevigny may have first made a name for herself way back in 1995 — and she’s hardly aged a day in the 20 years since. And while you would think there’d be a whole lot of hard work that goes into keeping your complexion so unmarred, the actress admits that it’s actually the exact opposite: She’s able to stay looking young because she’s so far opted out of the hard work of raising kids.

In an interview with W magazine at the East Village salon Blackstones, the actress, 41, explained the secret to her personal fountain of youth, saying, “I think it’s not having had a baby yet. Because I think the baby wear and tear and stress on your body is part of the reason why people say, ‘Why do you still look so young?’ I really think that that unfortunately ages women, especially when they have children in their 30s, not in their 20s. So I think, first and foremost, it’s that and genetics.”

But just because Sevigny thanks her DNA for her skin’s friendly relationship with time, that doesn’t mean she’s opposed to a little help from her dermatologist. “I’m really into all the things they tell you to do, like moisturizing,” she told the magazine. “I go to Dr. Colbert, who is this fancy dermatologist. I haven’t really gone the Botox route yet, but he does lasers and very expensive facials and stuff like that…I do lots of moisturizing, lots of water. I don’t do a lot of caffeine. But once I hit 40, I feel like things are starting to happen now that aren’t very exciting, and I’m starting to get a little scared.”

But she insists, “I’m trying to have a healthy remove, and I’m trying not to beat myself up. And I’m trying to do less photo shoots.” Sounds like a winning formula for looking totally ageless into her fifties and beyond.
