Chick-fil-A lovers are voicing their frustration over an employee’s behind-the-scenes food prep video.
The clip, shared on TikTok by a user named Antonella Nonone, shows how the chain produces its famous frosted strawberry lemonade. Her video, which has been viewed more than 2.6 million times, has many customers calling the item a “total rip off.”
Nonone presents her clip as a simple how-to, but the process of making the beverage is what seemed to get on TikTok users’ nerves. Mainly, they called out the “maddening” fact that the lemonade seems to be made of about 70 percent ice.
“So I worked for a Chick-fil-A for a couple of years, and this is something I learned a few weeks ago,” Nonone says in her video.
The TikToker then proceeds to mix “two pumps” of strawberry purée with a splash of lemonade. After that, she fills the remainder of the cup with ice.
“What a rip off,” one user wrote.
“No wonder why I take a sip of the drink it’s all gone right away,” another lamented.
“Thats literally 2-3 sips. Highway robbery,” another added.
Others were quick to point out, however, that the ice-heavy beverage approach is common at most chains — including Starbucks.
“Y’all say Starbucks is bad this is on another level,” one user commented.
This isn’t the first time in recent months that TikTok has stirred frustration toward a fast food restaurant. Earlier this month, a Taco Bell employee posted a video explaining how the chain makes its Cinnamon Twists — a process that seemingly involves pasta noodles.
The previous month, another Taco Bell employee shared how the restaurant creates its refried beans. The clip went viral and angered some users, while other TikTokers pointed out that most chains prepare their food the same way.
