After a bumpy relationship history, Cheryl Tweedy has revealed plans to have more children by sperm donor.

The pop star, 36, explained that she wants to provide “more than one” sibling for two-year-old son Bear, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, 26.

Speaking to The Times Magazine, the currently-single star said that the upcoming solo fertility treatment “makes me very happy”.

She continued: “If time was on my side and I was in my twenties, yeah, I would wait and consider more options, or wait for somebody I felt was right, but…

“You could meet somebody and for that year it feels incredible, but there is never a guarantee because there are so many variables that can happen.

“Life is a funny old game.”

Cheryl, who after stints on The X Factor is about to return to The Greatest Dancer’s judging panel, confirmed that she wants to have a second and third child using a sperm donor from “out of town”.

She explained: “You can get it from abroad.

“Do you imagine some guy from Newcastle saying, ‘That’s my child!’?

“There’s a lot to choose from and a lot to think about.”

The ex-Girls Aloud singer - who was previously married to Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010, and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini from 2014 to 2016 - also told the magazine that she is “not very good at choosing” partners.

She admitted: “I think I’ve always had a bit of that disease where I’m a kind of contradiction.

“I’m attracted to people who have traits I hate, if that makes any sense to you? Because it makes no sense to me. It’s almost like, ‘Can I help them …?’”

Cheryl said that since the birth of her first child in March 2017 - a year after she began dating the former One Direction band member - she has been in a “good space”.

She said: “I’m so happy now. I am happy with who I am and where I am in my life, and with my situation … My son. I didn’t need to choose him. He chose me!

“And it’s changed my world view. It’s changed everything for me in the best way. I had to reassess myself as a person, as a woman, as an older woman.”

It is estimated that around 2,500 men and women in the UK every year have a baby with the help of a sperm donor.
