Cher marked her 75th birthday by announcing that a biopic of her life is officially in the works.

The iconic singer's no-holds-barred Twitter account is always a treat, but on May 19 fans were treated to this especially exciting piece of news on social media.

"Universal is Doing Biopic With My Friends Judy Craymer, Gary Goetzman producing," Cher wrote, adding that the film would be written by Oscar-winner Eric Roth, whose credits include A Star Is Born and Forrest Gump.

As Cher noted in her tweet, she previously worked with Craymer and Goetzman on Mamma Mia 2: Here I Go Again. Between that history and Roth's Oscar-nominated screenplay for A Star Is Born, the movie musical pedigree is high.

This isn't the first time a biopic has been rumored—in fact, Cher first announced the project back in 2018. At the time, she said that she was working on a memoir which was due out in early 2020, and the biopic would follow. It's not clear what the new, post-COVID timetable is for either project, but it's safe to say fans are waiting in eager anticipation for both.

In the meantime, though, you could kill some time by re-reading the extraordinary story of how Cher and her Mamma Mia 2 co-star Meryl Streep once teamed up to take down an attacker. We can only hope that scene makes it into the biopic!

We'll be sure to update this post as soon as we know more.
