September 9, 2019What Got Commenters Talking:
She was loved for her voice and for sharing her decision-making behind purchases. Commenters were also intrigued by her coworker, S., that she maybe went with on a date (even though she had a boyfriend), so we got the update!Life Update:
"I'm still loving my job. A few months ago, my manager informed me that I got an unexpected mid-year raise based on performance. My base salary went from $120,000 to a little over $130,000. I believe I got the bump because I was (and likely still am) underpaid compared to other people in my group with similar experience because I didn’t negotiate my original offer at all. When I was interviewing for my current job, I was unemployed after having been laid off and was scared to negotiate because I didn’t feel I had any leverage at the time. Regardless, I'm pumped!
"Debt/Savings: I’m trying to pretend like my salary increase doesn’t exist and throw the extra pay toward my credit card debt. I still have over $14,000 to pay off in high-interest CC debt (down from 18k) but I plan to use next year's bonus to knock out a huge chunk of it (I'm proud — the old me would blow my bonus on Chanel, haha). Oh, and I'm now a pro at making my own cold brew at home — no more spending $5 every morning at the coffee shop! ;)
"Love life: I know I'm going to get dragged for this, but I cheated on my boyfriend with my coworker (S.) from my MD. It happened pretty recently. I distanced myself from S. for a while — no grabbing random coffees or lunch during the workday, no more hanging out outside of work. But our chemistry never went away. One Saturday night, when my boyfriend was out of town, S. and I randomly ended up at the same bar. As the night progressed, our respective friends moved onto the next bar, but we stayed behind, slowly getting closer and more physical with each other. After chatting over a couple of drinks, S. called an Uber home for us. Because S. lived closest to the bar, the Uber stopped at his place to drop him off first. But as the driver stopped, S asked me if I wanted to come in with him — and I said yes. We shared a bottle of wine and ultimately one thing led to another. When he kissed me for the first time, it confirmed what I already knew — this man is supposed to be mine. I need to end things with my boyfriend, and it's going to be hard because as fucked up as my behavior is, I do love him."
