After years of drought and a remarkably wet winter, some areas of California’s landscape have exploded into what are commonly called superblooms — a phenomenon so massive you can see it from space.

Back on Earth, one couple and their engagement photographer decided to take advantage of the expanding spectrum of colors to help announce and celebrate their impending union. The results are even more dramatic than the typical engagement pics.

Photographer Alyssa Marie shot couple Mike Marsoupian and Mary Costa in the Lake Elsinore area of Southern California in March and just recently began circulating them via social media and blogs.

According to the site where the photos first emerged, Green Wedding Shoes:

“Mike is originally from Michigan and Mary is from New Hampshire; the two of them loved the idea of being surrounded by the California state flower — a perfect symbol of the life they’ve built together on the West Coast.”

The full story of how the couple met can also be found on Green Wedding Shoes. These mind-blowing, technicolor photos are only one example of how Mike and Mary seem to roll on their journey through love. Turns out Mike proposed to Mary under a huge, colorful balloon arch.

Given how much time and effort Mike and Mary seem to put into pleasing each other and representing their couplehood in glorious splendor, we think they’re heading for some good times.
