Charred car found in Mississippi, cops say. Missing woman’s license plate found nearby

A Mississippi woman is still missing after a burned car believed to belong to her was found, deputies say.

Ebony Owens’ family reported the 36-year-old missing on Wednesday, March 15, according to a tweet from Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones. Her white 2015 Acura TLX was also missing.

Jones said deputies found a burned vehicle believed to belong to Owens on Wednesday. The car’s license plate was found nearby.

Owens was last known to be near Interstate 20 in the Clinton area the evening of Tuesday, March 14, Jones said. Her car was found about 20 miles west of that area near Old Highway 80 and Jones Road in Edwards — where Owens lives.

Anyone with information about Owens is asked to contact the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office at 601-352-1521.

Friends and family shared details about Owens on social media after her disappearance.

Please let my friend be ok. She’s more like a sister to me,” a loved one wrote in a Facebook post.

My heart can’t take this,” another post said.

Edwards is about 30 miles west of Jackson.
