Are changes to the Endangered Species Act helpful or hurtful?
On Monday, the Trump administration announced several changes to the Endangered Species Act. Passed in 1973, the law has been credited with saving hundreds of plants and animals from extinction, but business groups and farmers have been critical of the law, saying it puts an undue burden on people in rural America. Among the changes from the Trump administration, regulators would — for the first time — be allowed to consider the economic impact of trying to protect a plant or animal.
