The CFDA and Swarovski Add Sparkle to Dumbo’s New Skyline
“It keeps the industry on their toes,” Nadja Swarovski laughed, admiring the designers that have been recognized as nominees for the CFDA Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent. The businesswoman looked immaculate in a belted white jacket and cherry red skirt at last night’s cocktail party, where she was joined by Diane von Furstenberg and Steven Kolb, Mike Amiri, Laura Vassar Brock and Kristopher Brock, Aurora James, Kerby Jean-Raymond, and Sander Lak at New York’s most talked-about hotspot, Dumbo House, the latest building from the Soho House crew.
Guests including Anya Ziourova, Hannah Bronfman, and Roopal Patel crossed the bridge to take in the sweeping views and chill, yet chic vibes. Seeing the nominees’ work on display was inspiring to Swarovski, who added, “they truly represent the zeitgeist and what is relevant. It’s so great to have a keen eye on emerging talent.” And what makes Swarovski so passionate about supporting the next generation? “It’s fascinating to see that this crew was emerging talent—Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra—and now they’re such established, recognized, heroic names in American fashion.” The evening was a sparkling kick-off for the awards, which will take place on June 4th at the Brooklyn Museum.
