2019 was a big year for love and fashion (wedding fashion, to be exact). Multiple celebrity couples exchanged vows throughout the year, and they looked utterly fabulous doing so. While some A-listers opted to have more intimate, secret weddings (like Heidi Klum’s Italian elopement), others, such as Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin, hosted huge, extravagant celebrations. Despite the differences in wedding styles, one of the major trends of 2019 was the sequel wedding—or planning multiple ceremonies. And along with multiple ceremonies, most celebrity brides opted to wear more than one wedding dress for their nuptials. Here’s an overview of the best celebrity wedding dresses of the year.

Our Favorite Celebrity Wedding Dresses of 2019

To match the fabulous ceremonies, stars stunned in custom wedding gowns that were designed and created specifically for their nuptials. From Hailey Bieber’s dramatic Chantilly lace gown to Gina Rodriguez’s simply gorgeous slip dress, see our favorite celebrity wedding dresses of 2019.

Hailey Bieber Wedding Dress

After a discreet courthouse marriage in 2018, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married again in 2019. In September, the couple exchanged vows during a lavish wedding weekend in South Carolina at the Montage Palmetto Bluff. Despite the extravagant ceremony and festive prewedding parties, it was Hailey Bieber’s wedding dress—or dresses, we should say—that stole the show. The supermodel revealed in an Instagram post that her custom gown was designed by Virgil Abloh, founder of Off-White and Louis Vuitton menswear designer. The dress was a long-sleeve, off-the-shoulder, mermaid gown with a long train. Abloh accented the gorgeous Chantilly lace gown with pearl details and cathedral-length veil. The veil, which was lined with matching Chantilly lace, also read, “‘Till death do us part,” at the bottom.

After the ceremony, Hailey Bieber changed into her gorgeous reception dress. The bride rocked a custom silk Ralph & Russo gown with an asymmetric halter top, thigh-high slit, open back and sash.

Charlotte Casiraghi Wedding Dress

One thing is for sure: Charlotte Casiraghi’s wedding dresses were absolutely fit for a princess. Casiraghi, who wed film producer Dimitri Rassam a second time at the Prince’s Palace in Monaco, sported two custom looks for her nuptials. The first was a Saint Laurent brocade minidress by Anthony Vaccarello, which featured three bows down the front. The gray dress was particularly meaningful as it was inspired by her grandmother, who wore a pink brocade suit for her own civil ceremony. For the couple’s reception, the royal donned a classic strapless ball gown with a V-neck and ruching on the bodice.

Gina Rodriguez Wedding Dress

Many celebrities enlisted designers to create ornate, luxe gowns for their wedding day, but Gina Rodriguez’s wedding dress showed the beauty of simplicity. For her surprise outdoor wedding to film producer Joe LoCicero, the actress stunned in a simple, silky white Provonias gown with a cowl neck and a low-cut swing back detail. The Jane The Virgin star later changed into a sheer tulle fit-and-flare dress with pearl accents for the reception.

Katherine Schwarzenegger Wedding Dress

One of the most-talked about wedding outfit changes of 2019 was Katherine Schwarzenegger’s. The author married actor Christ Pratt in a bespoke summer wedding, where she rocked two custom-fitted Armani Price gowns. For the ceremony, Schwarzenegger wore a white crinoline lace bustier column gown that extended out into an ultra-dramatic lace train. Later in the evening, the bride changed into an ivory silk satin gown with draped off-the-shoulder sleeves, a plunging back and covered-button detailing.

Supermodel and body-positive activist Hunter McGrady married husband Brian Keys in June 2019. The Sports Illustrated model wore two dresses to the elegant garden celebration. McGrady’s ceremony dress was a strapless custom Watters trumpet gown with a plunging neckline and lace detailing. For the reception, McGrady wore a sultry high-neck trumpet dress (which is now available for purchase). The activist told People the second outfit was an “ode to Meghan Markle’s second Stella McCartney dress.” The model later showcased her stunning gowns in the Knot Fall 2019 Fall Fashion Issue, where she addressed the issue of size inclusivity in the wedding dress industry.

Rachel Lindsay Wedding Dress

Bachelorette star Rachel Lindsay married Season 13 winner Bryan Abasolo in a glamorous oceanside ceremony in Cancun, Mexico. In keeping with the wedding’s theme, the reality series star wore a stunning sparkly gown. For the ceremony, the bride wore a two-piece, hand-beaded Randi Rahm wedding dress. In an exclusive interview, Lindsay told The Knot that the dress designer held a special meaning. “Randi designed the dress I first met Bryan in and the dress he proposed to me in, so it only made sense to have her design the wedding dress,” she reflected.

For the reception, Lindsay kept her beaded crop top but swapped out her long tulle skirt for white satin shorts (also designed by Randi).

Dhowre finished off the look with a wispy updo, a sheer tulle veil and sparkly drop earrings.

Hayley Paige Wedding Dress

Not all of the best wedding dresses of the year were worn down the aisle. In November 2019, designer Hayley Paige rocked one of her own gowns on the The Knot Gala red carpet. The dress, named “Musgraves,” is a colorful tulle ball gown with a corset-style top and a tiered skirt. From the pastel colors to the ruffled skirt, the “Musgraves” gown hits a bunch of wedding dress trends we’re predicting to see in 2020. (Psst: Paige got engaged in June 2019, so look out for her wedding in 2020.)

Sadie Robertson Wedding Dress

Minimalism had another major moment this year when Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson married husband Christian Huff. The couple exchanged vows on Robertson’s family farm in Louisiana in front of 600 loved ones. The reality star donned a strapless white crepe Rita Vinieris gown with a back bow and a long train. “I put it on and my mom and I are not emotional people, but we both started crying,” she told The Knot in an exclusive interview. “I ended up buying the dress on the spot.” The bride completed her look with white elbow-length gloves and a low, classic chignon.

For the post-wedding festivities, Robertson sported a v-neck ball gown with floral appliqués on the bodice and a full tulle skirt.

The destination celebration came months after the couple exchanged vows in a surprise Vegas elopement. For the formal affair, the actress rocked a gorgeous long-sleeve ball gown by Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere. The stunning ensemble also featured floral appliqués (another major wedding dress trend for 2020). The bride topped off the dramatic look with a simple white veil.

Lea Michele Wedding Dress

The Glee star married husband Zandy Reich in March 2019 at Carneros Resort in Napa, California. For the nuptials, the actress wore a custom silk gazar gown designed by Monique Lhuillier. As the singer wanted a classic look, she wore a strapless ball gown that was hand-draped over a corseted bodice. Lhuillier posted on Instagram that she and the star paired the grand, timeless dress with a cathedral-length veil with a hand-appliquéd lace border. “Thank you Lea for letting me be a part of this milestone in your life. You are beautiful inside and out my friend,” the wedding dress designer wrote in her post.
