The Seattle family home of celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin and photographer husband Mike Rosenthal features a modern take on minimalist kitchen ideas.

Upon purchasing the property, the married couple turned to interior design studio NowHaus Studio to transform the home into a practical and personalized space that ensues a feeling of tranquillity throughout.

Whilst the whole home echoes an understated and minimalist decor style and features mid-century modern furniture, it's the kitchen we're taking a closer look at, which you can see below.

'This gorgeous kitchen seamlessly blends mid-century style with contemporary design for a space that feels both nostalgic and fresh,' explains interior designer Rudolph Diesel.

'The clean lines and minimalist aesthetic create a light and airy look that's uncluttered yet cozy,' he continues.

While the design elements of the kitchen remain fairly understated, Diesel suggests that the sleek wood-clad kitchen cabinets give the room a feeling of warmth: 'A key mid-century detail is the minimalist wooden cabinets which line the walls. The rich wood grain and muted brown tones provide organic warmth against the room's neutral backdrop, echoing popular mid-century furniture silhouettes.'

To break up the room's wooden decor, the addition of foliage on an oversized sculptural vase on the kitchen island provides a point of interest and also helps promote a feeling of bringing the outdoors into the home, which is perfect for the no doubt stunning surroundings of this Seattle home.

The use of contrasting hardware is another more minor design feature that provides balance, as Diesel suggests: 'Pops of black in the fixtures and stone countertops provide a chic definition. This monochromatic color scheme feels both nostalgic for retro eras but also very modern.'
