Celebrity couples with major height differences are easy to spot thanks to red carpet appearances and paparazzi photos.

While the rest of us might be strategically cropping photos on Instagram or zooming in on photos on dating apps to navigate our own height insecurities, these stars have nowhere to hide… and why should they? We tend to be obsessive over heights when choosing a romantic partner, probably due to heteronormative standards about who should be taller in a relationship — shoutout to all the celebrity women who have dated much shorter men! But, who cares? All heights are beautiful.

Unsurprisingly, men are taller in most heterosexual couples, celebrity or not! With the average height of an American woman coming in at 5’4”, and the average height of a man in the U.S. being 5’9”, most male-female couples have their height differences skewed in favor of the man.

Celebrity couples past and present have showcased major height differences — some of the biggest mismatches occur in celebrity couples like Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Maren Morris and ex-husband Ryan Hurd, and Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens. Several couples on this list are over a foot apart in height — one couple has a whopping two foot height difference!

Of course, actors are notoriously shorter than they appear on the big screen and professional sports players are giants both on and off the court, so some of these celebrity match-ups were bound to create major height differences. That has made for some pretty funny photos of much shorter celebs trying to have a PDA moment with their taller partner on the red carpet without breaking their neck.
