Celebrities Who Will Marry in 2020 (Plus, Their Wedding Planning Stories)

The year 2019 was action-packed with celebrity engagements, which means a slew of A-listers are bracing to wed in the dozen or so months ahead. A number of stars, from Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez to Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are currently planning their 2020 weddings, which means they’re fully immersed in the process of securing top vendors, getting through their checklists, setting up registries, and bracing themselves for the best day of their lives–much like you. Here, The Knot rounds up our predictions for 2020 weddings, some have since taken place, along with relatable quotes about wedding planning. Because stars… they really are just like us.

Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman

The Today Show co-host and Schiffman got engaged in 2019 after six years together, and they will likely be married by end of year. “We’re going for sooner rather than later because we think, ‘Why are we waiting?'” Hoda said on her show. “We’ll probably do a destination (wedding), I think, but we don’t know for sure. We’re already getting it together. We just want to do it.”

Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban

So nice, they proposed twice. Vonn and Subban enjoyed two proposals in 2019, and are now actively planning possibly two weddings. “I think we want to get married sooner rather than later, because we do want to have kids, and that’s a long process,” Vonn told Us Weekly in a recent interview. The Olympian said they’ll likely have a sequel wedding: one small intimate-size ceremony followed by a massive celebration.

Like many couples, finding the date has also proven to be challenging. “We obviously can’t have the wedding while he’s still in [hockey] season,” she explained. “We don’t know where and we don’t know exactly when, but roughly summer.”

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

The couple, who got engaged in February 2019, will likely marry in 2020. Originally, they were supposed to wed over the holidays, but they had to postpone the date due to location issues. Again, relatable.

“They’re beyond in love,” a source told Us Weekly. In fact, they’re planning to have a sequel wedding when the date arrives. “They’re going have one local wedding party, and the other will be a destination wedding party,” the insider said.

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

It’s not exactly a prediction, but the wedding planning process has been stressful for Princess Bea and her beau. Twice, the couple had to change their wedding date due to father of the bride Prince Andrew’s ongoing woes. The wedding will officially take place Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace.

JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers

Three years (and change) after they captivated the country with their sweet romance on The Bachelorette, the engaged couple will marry sometime in 2020. These two are now planning an outdoor wedding in California.

“JoJo’s a great planner. I’m the worst planner,” Rodgers previously told E! News. “I just got a deadline today, actually a few hours ago from JoJo. She goes, ‘I need your guest list in two weeks.’ And then about five minutes later, it turned into one week. So by the end of this phone call, I’m probably gonna have a few days to get my entire guest list together because JoJo has got hers nailed down.”

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell

The two have already nailed down a venue, plus other details since their 2019 engagement. “It’s where we met, it’s where we got engaged, it only makes sense to have it at the Australia Zoo,” Powell told Good Morning America of their wedding spot. The pair will have “lots and lots” of creatures around during the nuptials with the bride supposedly walking down the aisle hugging one.

“We may be setting some new trends for weddings from here on out,” Irwin added.

The conservationist will be wearing a gown from Kleinfeld. “I left my dress until the last minute but I’m really excited about it,” Irwin previously said. “It’s really special. I love it so much because it kind of mimics my mom’s beautiful dress so I found something that paid tribute to her beautiful wedding dress and I’m thrilled.”

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

What’s certain about this superstar wedding is that there will be much thoughtfulness around ceremony roles as the future spouses plan to incorporate their children into the ceremony.

“It’s always tricky when you merge families, but Jennifer and Alex did a great job from the start,” a source told People. “The kids are amazing together. And they have wanted Jennifer and Alex to get married for a long time. They will all definitely be a huge part of the wedding.”

In September, Rodriguez hinted that the wedding would be a destination event. “When you think about wedding plans and Jennifer is your partner, all you do is—you do a lot of nodding,” he added to ET. “I don’t know where the location is, I don’t know what I’m wearing, I don’t know when it is. I’ll just show up.”

What’s also nice is this: The bride has already played the role of wedding planner in the 2001 film, The Wedding Planner.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost

In September, the actress joked about needing all the help she could get for her nuptials to the Saturday Night Live personality. “I don’t know!” she remarked to ET about the entire thing. “Can you help me?!”

Like Johansson, most couples don’t know where to begin with the entire process. It might seem daunting, but there are options out there to help alleviate your concerns. We suggest you start with the number one wedding planning app. (Hint, hint: It’s ours!)

J.J. Watt and Kealia Ohai (Married February 16)

The athletic power couple declared one non-negotiable items for the wedding. “It’s open bar for everybody,” the NFL player told Houston local station ABC13. “It’s the only way to make a good wedding.”

In June, he had yet to set a date, but he was at least aware of budget. “Being from Wisconsin, I didn’t even know there was another option to be honest,” Watt tweeted, before adding a photo of himself looking befuddled. He added, “(That picture will be my face when I see the final bill for the open bar).”

Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (Married January 20)

Another power athlete, Tebow, and former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters were in the thick of wedding planning after their early 2019 engagement. In fact, both have taken to social media to share various aspects of the planning process (like practicing their dance moves and crowd sourcing hashtag ideas.

Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams

When it comes to weddings, this unlikely and adorable pairing already know the rundown, the vision and more. “Also, Sarah is going to be, like, Pinterest boards and vision boards and a lot of Elmer’s glue is going to be involved,” Bachelorette and subsequent Bachelor in Paradise star Adams said of the Modern Family actress. “So, I think we’re just holding off on that.”

Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark

The Vanderpump Rules personality has, at the very least, locked down a wedding date and more. “Wedding planning is a pain,” she said in November to Us Weekly. “No one warns you how hard it is and we have wedding planners! We’re having an overseas wedding, so I thought that would actually make it easier because we’re also having a smaller, intimate wedding but no, it doesn’t, it doesn’t make it easier. It’s very difficult but it’s really fun.”
