Celebrities Did Their Best Karl Kosplay at the 2023 Met Gala

In case you missed it, the highly-anticipated 2023 Met Gala's dress code was "in honor of Karl" (as in Karl Lagerfeld), and celebrities hit the red carpet with many different interpretations of the theme, from archival Chanel designs by Lagerfeld to black-and-white gowns. But what better way to pay homage to the iconic figure than by dressing up exactly like him? This is what a slew of attendees decided to do.

Usher looked dapper in a Bianca Saunders suit, accessorized Lagerfeld-style with a pair of shades and black leather gloves, both of which were Karl's trademark accessories. Ke Huy Quan had a similar idea but his look came courtesy of Dior, featuring a pinstriped suit and white collared shirt. Lous Vuitton, meanwhile, made Jackson Wang his own black suit with black shades and gloves.

But it wasn't just men who took a stab at Karl Kosplay. Julia Garner also gave her best Lagerfeld drag in a custom Gucci silk full-length gown, secured at the neck with a pearl-embellished shirt collar, and a black velvet cape featuring a pink interior. She styled her hair in a tousled updo, reminiscent of Karl's iconic wig.

Supermodels Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner also paid homage to the man of the hour. Delevingne, a longtime muse of Lagerfeld's, wore the late designer's namesake brand. Her look consisted of a white blouse-cape combo teamed with black leather thigh highs and a Lagerfeld-esque greyish-white pixie cut wig with bangs. Jenner opted for a caped bodysuit paired with massive platforms by Marc Jacobs

Jenna Ortega, meanwhile, gave Lagerfeld-meets-Wednesday in a Thom Browne black-and-white corseted dress and a white collared shirt and bow tie layered underneath. She completed the look with black chunky heels.
