How Celebrities Are Celebrating Mother's Day 2020

Mother’s Day is here once again, but this year, the annual holiday undoubtedly feels a little different.

With people all around the world staying home and practicing social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, families aren’t able to celebrate in ways they usually do. Instead of brunches and IRL festivities, many mothers are being honored from afar — and what better way to do that than with an Instagram tribute?

The social media app is always full of sentimental pictures on this special day, but this year it feels even more poignant. And plenty of celebs have gotten in on the tributes as well, from Gigi Hadid to Miley Cyrus to Yara Shahidi. Ahead, check out some of the sweetest Mother’s Day posts from your favorite celebs!

Michelle Obama

For her Mother’s Day tribute, Michelle talked about how this year’s holiday might be extra challenging for moms from all walks of life. “I'm sure that many of you would rather be out of the house, spending this day with your mom or whomever fills that role in your life,” the former first lady said. “I feel that too. So I'm taking some time today to reach out to the amazing mothers in my life — friends, mentors, aunts, elders — who may need a little extra love today. That includes so many of you. From my family to yours, #HappyMothersDay.”

Sarah Hyland

The Modern Family star shared a cute throwback photo from her childhood, while also taking a moment to acknowledge all the moms who might also be essential workers. “Thank you to all the moms across the globe,” she captioned her post. “And a very special thank you to moms on the front line risking their own lives to save others every single day”
