Cate Blanchett Proves a Little Volume Goes a Long Way for Chic Day-to-Night Hair

Cate Blanchett is on a voluminous hair tear. While out and about in New York City yesterday promoting her film Where'd You Go, Bernadette, the actress debuted a couplet of hairstyles defined by their unique brand of oomph. First, outside of the Today show, Blanchett opted to augment a monochromatic pink look—rose-colored lenses, a swipe of pearly pink lipstick, and twinning blush all playing off of her bubblegum skirt suit—with shoulder-skimming blonde bends featuring a deep part and a barely-there bouffant at the back.

Hours later, as the light faded, Blanchett took to the red carpet for a screening of the aforementioned film, pink lips and cheeks accompanied by a metallic smoky eye and show-stopping updo. Along with a dramatic, feathery sweep at front, Blanchett’s tie-back centered on a columnar take on a chignon, hair twisted and secured to guide the eye toward the ‘80s-inspired bang. A constant? The style’s heightened appeal, both in literal skyward reach and aesthetic impact. You know what they say: The higher the hair, the closer to beauty heaven.
