If, like us, you haven’t been able to get enough of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books, we have some good news – Reid’s latest book, Carrie Soto Is Back, is heading to our screens.

We loved watching Daisy Jones and the Six become a 10-episode series and TikTok favourite The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is being made into a movie, so we can't wait to see another one of our favourite books be adapted.

Here’s what we know so far…

When was the Carrie Soto is Back adaptation confirmed?

The book, which was released in 2022, exists in the same universe as a few of Reid’s most celebrated stories – with the fictional singer Mick Riva appearing in both Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones’ books, as well as Malibu Rising and Carrie Soto Is Back.

The author took to social media this week (30th March) to officially announce the adaptation.

She writes, “From the moment the manuscript for CARRIE SOTO was completed, the incredible people at @picturestart made it clear that they were the perfect partners to make it a great adaptation.”

“They **get** Carrie, they love her the way I do, and they understand the heart and potential world of this story. There are more steps to come before it hits your screen but I will keep you posted along the way. Right now, I am feeling very, very lucky to be working with such a phenomenal team to bring Carrie, Javier, Bowe, Gwen, and Nicki to life. HERE WE GO!!!”

Who will be cast in the Carrie Soto is Back adaptation?

So far, we only know that Reid will executive produce, alongside Circle of Confusion and Picturestart.

No casting has been announced yet but we will be sure to let you know as soon as any cast members are revealed. It’s also unclear as to whether it will be made into a movie – like One True Loves – or a TV show – like Daisy Jones and the Six.

What is Carrie Soto is Back about?

The titular Carrie Soto is “a top tennis player whose determination to win at all costs has left her not winning any popularity contests,” per Deadline, who broke the adaptation news.

“By the time she hangs up her racquet and retires, she is regarded as the best player the world has ever seen. Six years later, her world record might be taken from her by a brutal, stunning player named Nicki Chan. So at the tennis-ancient age of 37, Carrie makes the monumental decision to come out of retirement and be coached by her father for one last year, during which she hopes to reclaim her record.”

But the story also details her complicated love life, as well as the touching and relatable relationship that she has with her father. Basically, we couldn’t put it down when we read it last year!

Not only did the book debut at the top of The New York Times bestseller list but it also won the 2022 reader-voted Goodreads Choice Award for Historical Fiction.

Whether you love tennis and count down the days to Wimbledon each year, or not, we look forward to Carrie getting her moment on the screen!
