We may be currently basking in spring weather, but celebrity chef Carla Hall wants us get in the Christmas mindset...now. Though we would absolutely love a new cookbook from the former restauranteur and runway model to add to the three that already stock our shelves, the former Chew co-host is now adding children's book author to her already expansive resume.
It'll be picture book titled Carla and the Christmas Cornbread and it's heading your way this fall. Published by Denene Millner Books (which is the latest imprint from Simon & Schuster), the book follows a young Carla who—while celebrating her favorite holiday with her grandma's wonderful cornbread—mistakenly takes a bite out of the sugar cookies left for Santa. Left with the task of finding Santa a new midnight snack, Carla is determined to do whatever it takes to save Christmas.
Taking to her Instagram account on Tuesday to announce the book, Hall wrote, "I’ve wanted to create a children’s book for a long time now and I’m thrilled to have partnered with @denenemillnerbooks to bring this to fruition."
The chef—who has officially become my favorite auntie of them all—went on to express her excitement, writing, "I hope this story can be enjoyed for years to come by children of all backgrounds. I’m so excited to share the official cover art for Carla and the Christmas Cornbread."
The new book, which is illustrated by Cherise Harris, is slated to be released on November 2 and will be available in both hardcover and kindle versions priced at $17.99 and $10.99, respectively. But, if you want to go ahead and pre-order it so that you'll get yours as soon as it drops, then you can do so now on Amazon.
