Cardi B is one of fashion and beauty’s biggest chameleons, pulling off everything from avant-garde gowns, strawberry milk nails, controversial duck nails, and cherry cola hair. Her latest look, though, combined her love of futuristic fashion, hair, and long nails into one show-stopping ensemble when she rolled up to the red carpet for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Cardi was nominated for Best Hip-Hop song for her collaboration with GloRilla, “Tomorrow 2,” as well as performing her new single "Bongos." She walked the red carpet hand-in-hand with her beau, Offset, and wore a full Dilara Findikogula ensemble with a dress made out of hundreds of dark silver hair clips and pins arranged in flowing formations across her entire body. She also wore wrist cuffs in the same material, which matched the clips in Offset's hair.

To go with the metallic look, she wore equally as shiny chrome nails done by Manicurist Jenny Bui. Bui started by applying Aprés Nail Gel-X Tips in Square Extra Long ($17) in an extra-long square shape, and curing them before going in with Aprés Gel Couleur in the shade Birnam Wood ($15). After that dried, she went in with some professional-only chrome powder (you can use a couple of layers of your favorite metallic eyeshadow, though) and sealed it all in with a top coat.
Because the nails and outfit were all about opulence, Cardi kept her makeup more simple—but just as glamorous.
Makeup artist Erika la Pearl used all Pat McGrath Labs products to achieve the look—including some soon-to-be-released, top secret PMGL products. For the rapper's picture-perfection complexion, Pearl started with Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation ($69), mixing shades Medium 16, Medium 17, and Medium 18 for the perfect match.

After that, she added some concealer, using Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Concealer ($34) in two shades, Medium 15 and Medium 16, before adding Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Powder ($34) in the shade Medium under the eyes, and sealing it all together with Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Setting Powder ($42) in the shade Light-Medium.
For Cardi's lips, la Pearl first lined with the PermaGel Ultra Lip Pencil ($29) in the shade Deep Dive before applying the Venusian Peach shade of SatinAllure Lipstick . The final step? La Pearl applied a generous coat of Lust Gloss ($29) in the shade Flesh Fantasy.
