Cardi B’s Denim Bikini, Floor-Sweeping Coat & Heeled Work Boots Make a Case for Bold Style

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper took to Instagram last night to tease fans with a new video and a bold look, captioning the post “I got a announcement tomorrow.”

In the clip, the New York native showed off her standout taste as she strutted down the stairs in a denim bikini with a matching floor-sweeping duster coat and buckled leg garters. She then accented the look with a Christain Dior headscarf, choker and coordinating netted purse with bold footwear to tout.

The lifted pair took inspiration from what could be considered a classic work boot silhouette, formed with durable tan leather uppers and a metal eyelet-laced closure; instead of coming set atop a ligged outsole, though, this pair featured a teetering stiletto lift.

Combat boots, work boots and hiking-inspired styles are the new norm amongst celebrity style trends, experiencing a revitalization along with a dew other silhouettes from the 1990s. From brands like Prada along with Bottega Veneta and Dr. Martens, these lug-sole boots offer ease of wear with an edgy-chic appeal. This season, you’ll spot utilitarian boots on the likes of Kylie Jenner, J-Lo, Gwen Stefani and more major stars.

Showing off a different side of her style, though, last week, the musician debuted the latest installment of her “Cardi Tries” series for Facebook and it’s even wilder than you would expect.

In the newest episode series where the “I Like It” rapper tests out new activities and roles, she visited a local nursery school, serving as a teacher for a group of kids for the day. Serving up classic Cardi B fashion, the New York native opted for a cutout high-neck minidress that came coated in checkered print for the occasion.

Deemed the Style Influencer of the Year for the recent 2020 FN Achievement Awards, Cardi B herself is a master of both luxurious apparel and athleisure fashion. She joined Balenciaga as the face of its fall ’20 campaign in September, with ads displayed across the Louvre in Paris.

The “Hustlers” star also continues to hold the ultimate hook-up for sportswear since partnering with Reebok in November 2018; together, Cardi B has helped the brand released a series of collections as she starred in a variety of campaigns and videos featuring embellished sneakers and vintage-inspired pieces before creating her own collection of footwear and apparel.

The Grammy Award-winning artist also recently filed paperwork with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in September in an attempt to trademark the term “WAP” for a variety of items from footwear to apparel to even alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
