Cardi B Defends Offset Giving a Birkin Bag to Kulture for Her 2nd Birthday

  • Cardi B and Offset gave their daughter, Kulture, a Birkin bag for her 2nd birthday.

  • Critics said it was too extravagant of a gift for a child.

  • Cardi defended their decision and said celebrity kids need different clothes and accessories to match their lifestyle.

Just a few days after Cardi B said she was “sick of the internet” because fans called her out for using a racial slur to describe her sister, the rapper came for critics who said Offset shouldn’t have bought their daughter, Kulture, a Birkin bag for her 2nd birthday.

For the uninitiated, a Birkin bag is one of the most expensive purses on the planet. The Hermès staple, which starts at $60,000, is frequently touted as an investment more valuable than gold, so it’s definitely a choice to entrust such a valuable item to a toddler. But Cardi worked hard for her money and has the right to spoil her baby with lifetime investments if she wants.

When she noticed people calling them out for the lavish gift, Cardi took to her Instagram Story to basically tell everybody to mind their business.

She said:

“When celebrities buy their kids jewelry and designer sh*t, people be like, ‘Kids don’t care about that. They only care about toys and candy.’ Yeah, they only care about toys and candy but the thing is the kids also go outside. You know what I’m saying? Kids go to restaurants, kids go to fancy places, celebrity kids, they go do red carpets. If I’m wearing Cha-nay-nay, my kid’s having the same-same, you know what I’m saying?”

Cardi added that ultimately, she’s the parent and the one who gets to decide what’s best for her kids. “It’s not up to what the kids like,” she explained. “If it was the kids, they’d be outside in diapers. Because if I was looking like a bad bitch, expensive bitch and I have my kid looking like a bum-bum, then y’all would be talking sh*t.”
