Sometimes lightning does strike twice. A man from Concord, North Carolina, was overjoyed when he bought a winning ticket from Sam’s Mini Stop on Old Charlotte Road on April 2017. Just under two years later, he was blown away when he bought another winning $1 million dollar ticket from the exact store.

Terry Splawn told WBTV, “What are the odds of this happening?” Splawn said. “I can’t believe I won the lottery not once, but twice!” His first winning ticket was a Millionaire Bucks, and his second was a $150 Million Cash Explosion scratch-off.

“I was surprised,” Splawn told the outlet. “I couldn’t believe I hit again. I just thought, ‘This can’t be happening.’”

North Carolina Education lottery official reports that Splawn claimed his prize in Raleigh on Thursday, where he chose to receive a lump sum of $600,00 over an annuity of 20 $50,000 payments. After state and federal taxes, he walked home with $424,506.

According to Splawn, he and his wife used most of the first prize to remodel their home. However, he plans to hold onto his second prize. “I’m keeping this one. I’m going to put it aside for a rainy day.”

“Ticket sales from games like $150 Million Cash Explosion help the Lottery raise more than $650 million a year for education,” lottery officials told the outlet.
