Candy Corn Is Officially America's Least Favorite Halloween Candy
Who doesn't love Halloween candy? While everyone certainly has their own favorites, it seems that a few varieties reign supreme in each state, and kids would prefer to have a handful of peanut butter cups over anything else. But if one thing is clear, it's that the majority of trick or treaters aren't dying to receive candy corn in their Halloween trick-or-treat bag this year, according to a new hybrid survey issued by CandyStore.com.

Candy corn is known to be polarizing among trick-or-treaters and Halloween fans alike, but the new survey confirms that it's among the least favorite Halloween candies in America. The survey isn't totally based off individual people's responses, either—while the website's published results did incorporate results from 30,000 customers who have purchased candy from them, the survey incorporated rankings from popular magazines and news sources. Twelve different rankings from websites including BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, and Bon Appétit were rolled into their results, which complemented the data they gathered by asking shoppers their preferences.

While candy corn received the most negative feedback from both news accounts and news sites, there are more candies that have throngs of fans clamoring for more this October. Some of the candies in the survey's roundup are things you probably wouldn't find in an average trick-or-treat bowl: the second-least favorite candy is circus peanuts, a marshmallow-based "penny" candy that was popular many years ago, and the fourth least favorite is wax cola bottles. Most of the candies on CandyStore.com's "worst" Halloween candy list seem to have cult followings. Necco wafers, which are manufactured in New England, were almost lost forever before diehard fans pushed for a bailout of its parent company. If you're one of the few people who truly loves these culturally controversial options, don't fret; you're not alone.
The list also includes Bit-o-Honey, a honey sucker candy; Good & Plenty, a blend of licorice candy; actual licorice; Smarties; Tootsie Rolls; and peanut butter kisses, which incorporates chocolate and peanut butter.
