  • Candace Cameron Bure and her husband Valeri Bure credit their successful marriage to a “spicy” sex life.

  • They’ll celebrate 25 years of marriage next month.

  • “You’ve got to keep it up. The longer you’re married it’s so easy to take each other for granted,” Candace said.

Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, former hockey player Valeri Bure will celebrate 25 years of marriage next month, and Candace says they’re happier than ever—mostly because they keep their sex life “spicy.”

The Fuller House star spilled her marriage secrets on Daily Blast Live, admitting that switching things up in bed is one of the best things a couple can do to keep their relationship passionate and strong.

“I think it’s important. You’ve got to keep it up. The longer you’re married it’s so easy to take each other for granted. You know each other so well that you forget, so you have to keep it spicy,” she said. “I love that. My husband and I do.”

She continued: “That’s one of the reasons we’ll be celebrating 25 years of marriage.”

The actress understands that not everyone may know how to switch things up if they’re feeling low, so she offered some advice. “Just do something unexpected,” she said. “Maybe lay in a way you don’t normally lay. He’ll be like ‘woah.’ You’ll surprise him!”

This isn’t the first time Candace has gotten candid about her sex life. In September of last year, she shared a photo of Val playfully touching her breast over her shirt with the caption, “sweet and spicy ❤️🙌🏼🌶,” and received an overwhelming amount of backlash for the pose—especially from her fellow Christians who deemed the photo inappropriate.

Candace disagreed. “I’ve been married for 24 years,” she said on the Confessions of a Crappy Christian podcast. “I’m a Christian, my husband’s a Christian, and I’m really proud that we’ve managed to stay married for 24 years. And the fact that we have fun and we flirt together, this is part of what makes our marriage work. This is something to be celebrated as a Christian.”

She continued: “Sex doesn’t stop once you get married. If we are to promise ourselves for one another and preach saving yourself for marriage, then sex needs to be celebrated within marriage.”

With that being said, her relationship with Val hasn’t come without its hurdles—especially amid the pandemic. In a recent interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, she admitted that lockdown life tested them.

“It got really hairy after the first few months, like bad,” she revealed. “All the things that we have avoided for years talking about, they all surfaced and they were in our face and it was unavoidable to actually have these discussions with one another and work through the real deal crap.”

Thankfully, their kids—Natasha Bure, 22, and her brother Lev, 20—helped them prioritize and pull through. “My children were the biggest influence in helping my husband and me work through it,” she said. “And since then, the relationship has grown even closer and tighter. There’s always hills and valleys, no matter what. But when you come out of the valley, it is like, hallelujah. You feel like you can accomplish anything. And that’s what this pandemic felt like.”
