On Saturday, Bure posted a photo to mark the start of 2021.
The snap features Bure, her husband, and their kids (all between the ages of 18 and 22) posing against the exterior of a house. Bure captioned it, "Happy New Year from the Bures!! Looking forward to what 2021 has in store. I'm praying for unity, grace, humility, compassion and love for mankind. With God, all things are possible 🙏🏻. Sending virtual hugs and kisses! XO P.S. I think my social media break is now over 😉." She also credited the photographer, incidentally her sitcom costar Dave Coulier's wife Melissa, who is a professional photographer.

Instagram users had thoughts about the portrait she chose.
While Bure, her husband, and one of their sons are all smiling at the camera, Natasha and Lev seem to have opted for more of a high-fashion mood. Neither smiles, and Natasha angles her gaze away from the camera. The juxtaposition appears to have really bothered some of Bure's followers, who were quick to comment with their takes on the photoshoot.
One said that daughter Natasha looked "Photoshopped." Another said that the photo was "a hot mess" and that all of the kids looked "confused and terrified." Yet another asked, "Why do your son and daughter look so angry?"
The snap also received its fair share of praise— with many fans replying positively and even shaming critics. Fellow celebs among the supportive repliers include fellow TGIF lineup star Jaleel White, Kristin Chenoweth, and Christy Carlson Romano.

Bure made her feelings known on Instagram soon after the deluge started.
"Wow- I post a family photo and you all find everything you don't like about it or can make fun of. Do better than that," Bure commented on the original post. "Please."
Her daughter seemed to take the comments in stride. "Omg!!!! I didn't smile or look at the camera," she responded sarcastically with some emojis. "Sue me!!!"

Then she expanded on her thoughts in a lengthy Facebook post.
On January 2, the star took to her official Facebook page to craft a more thorough response to the negative replies the photo received.
"I posted my family Christmas photo and sadly, there were so many unkind comments," Bure wrote. "Do you think it's funny to criticize someone's children? To make jokes about them? To critique our poses? The direction in which we are looking? Our physical appearance and facial expressions? I wished blessings upon everyone as I shared it in the spirit of a happy new year, yet so many of you came back with jokes about our appearance and criticism of what you thought would have been a better photo. Shame on you. It doesn't matter if you're 10 or 90 years old, rude is rude. Be better than that. I'm praying for humanity. Manners and respect. If you don't like something, just move on. There are people and real feelings behind every screen."
In a P.S., she went further, saying, "Please don't tell me to ignore the 'haters.' There were plenty of well meaning people who thought it would be funny to point out things and share their commentary, 'with love.' Umm… that's not love. That's rude. Try kind. It looks good on everyone."
