Did When Calls the Heart's Nathan meet Jack before his accident?

Fans will remember that Elizabeth's (Erin Krakow) husband Jack (Daniel Lissing) died a few seasons back. It was crushing for Hearties, because Elizabeth was pregnant and had just lost the love of her life. Flash forward to the current season, where Elizabeth has been juggling a love triangle with Nathan (Kevin McGarry) and Lucas (Chris McNally), the latter of whom is a Mountie just like Jack. But until now, no one ever thought Jack and Nathan really knew each other.

But that was before we saw this promo for an upcoming episode of When Calls the Heart. In it, the Hope Valley townsfolk are starting to suggest that Nathan did indeed cross paths with Jack in some way—and it shows Elizabeth confronting him about it. Watch the clip below and see for yourself:

The audience was all a flurry in the comments section, where they shared theories about Jack and Nathan’s relationship. One that makes sense is, “I bet Nathan was 'there' when the landslide happened that took Jack's life. I'm thinking he was a trainer as well and knew Jack but not personally. 'Just in passing’…"

Another that’s possible is, “What if Nathan didn’t serve with Jack but his group was called in to help with rescue and Nathan was with Jack when they found him? What if Jack told Nathan about Elizabeth and asked him to go to Hope Valley and keep watch over Elizabeth as a dying man’s request?” So many good questions!

Regardless of what actually happens, Nathan fans are hoping this doesn't skew things in Lucas's favor. (And they're also hoping Jack might return, even if it’s only a flashback.)

“I don't know how Nathan is connected to Jack. I just hope it is something good that won't influence Elizabeth's decision about Nathan in a negative way. Still hoping their love will win out,” one person wrote.

There’s a lot on the line here! What do you think will happen? Sound off in the comments!
