California Students Allegedly Gave Out Cookies Baked With Their Grandparents' Ashes
Two high school students in California are suspected of baking cookies with their grandparents' ashes and sharing them with other students, authorities said.
Students at Da Vinci Charter Academy who ate the sugar cookies reportedly knew the cookies contained the ashes, but it’s not clear why they decided to eat them, Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel told InsideEdition.com.
“We have been letting the school district handle it," Pytel said of the case.
Pytel said the students relayed the information of what they had allegedly done, and it was eventually reported to authorities.
Police do not intend to file any charges.
The Davis Joint Union School District later issued a statement, saying it couldn't comment on confidential student matters.
"This case has been particularly challenging and we have responded appropriately and in the most respectful and dignified way possible," the statement said.
