Caitlyn Jenner Wears a Women’s Swimsuit for the 1st Time
With her new E! reality series I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner has given the world almost unprecedented access to her very public transition as a transgender person. And this latest insight is perhaps the most revealing of all—in the most literal sense of the word.
Episode three, which aired Sunday night, sees Jenner facing her body insecurities by wearing a women’s swimsuit for the first time ever in public (though, technically, she was staying at a secluded private villa in Napa Valley).
“Putting on that bathing suit represents a lot to me,” she says. “Kind of scary, because, you know, you’re really exposing yourself. I’m about as nervous as can possibly be right now.” Though she’s hesitant, she says with a laugh, “I can’t go to the beach or to a pool unless I wear one of these things anymore!”
In the above clip, we watch as Jenner and a friend choose between a plunging black maillot and a white one-shoulder getup—both equally on-trend for this summer’s modest swimwear situation.

“I love my daughter to death—Kimberly—but this is kind of one that Kimberly would wear, do you know what I’m saying?” Jenner says to her friend, while holding up the very Kim Kardashian-friendly black option.
“Not really,” says the friend. [Ed note: OH PUH-LEASE.]
Explains Jenner, “It’s probably a little more revealing in the cleavage department."
“Oh, I see. OK,” the friend (who maybe just doesn’t realize who “Kimberly” is?) says.
In the end, Jenner goes with the white swimsuit, paired with white lacy palazzos that call to mind her ex-wife Kris’s affinity for sheer pants. And, despite her initial hesitation, Jenner seems to have found her first swimwear experience to be overwhelmingly positive. “It felt very freeing,” she says, of debuting her new beach bod. “I did see my reflection in the glass, and I looked pretty good.”
