Dakota Johnson has officially co-signed the “mob wife” aesthetic for winter 2024, and we’re here for it. Taking a slight pivot from her subdued ’70s-chic vibe, Johnson stepped out in New York City ahead of her Saturday Night Live hosting gig oozing nothing but street ‘cred in the posh outfit formula: Fluffy fur coat? Check. Gold jewelry? Check. Dark, oversized sunglasses that evoke glamor and cool-factor? Double-check. Her luxe, cat-eye sunglasses are no doubt the star of the show, and, luckily, we found a wallet-friendly pair of frames that offer just as much flair for a fraction of the price.

The starlet paired her shades with Bottega Veneta’s Large Andiamo Bag in a trendy deep red hue, while Toteme’s Curly Shearling Coat and The Row’s Zipped 1 Leather Ankle Boots anchored the look. The luxe sunnies in question (a sold out pair from Bottega Veneta) take an angular shape in glossy black acetate, with gold detailing at the arms, and a smoky gray lens tint. The winged effect feels modern and fresh, while calling back to vintage sunglass styles, as they dip at the nose bridge to allow bold brows to pop and the eyes to peer over the top. But, if you have a habit of losing your favorite sunglasses, or you’re successfully to holding strong to your new year’s budgeting goals, Le Specs offers a super similar style to that gives all the same “mob wife” edge and opulence for far less cash.

Just like Johnson’s sunnies, the Le Specs Velodrome Cat Eye Sunglasses, which ring in at a comfortable price point of $55, have a boxy shape with pointed cat-eyes, charcoal lenses, and slightly thinner rims. They come in several additional colorways too, including warm tortoiseshell, pink, white, green, mauve and more. Plus, Le Specs is renowned for its highly-durable eyewear and stylish silhouettes — of which have been sported by the likes of glamor girls from Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bella Hadid, Lady Gaga, and more.
