VINCENT GOODWILL: How many more was the slogan on the back of NBA players' jerseys and referring to victims of police brutality. Apparently one more was too many for the Milwaukee Bucks to handle as they literally showed up not to play in game 5 of their first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic in the wake of the shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, their own backyard.

It's important to remember it's not just about Jacob Blake, the victim. It's about Sterling Brown who was assaulted by police one night two years ago. It's about John Henson who had an unfortunate police situation while he was a member of the Bucks trying to get into a jewelry store. They live in this general area. They've been talking. They've been putting their voices forward. They've done everything by the book in the attempt to play and compromise.

And now in the recent events of the past few days, they've decided that leveraging their power is the best thing that they can do. This is controlled rage. This is not grief. This is not fear. This is when you have nothing else left to do besides compromising with the power at hand. And at the moment, it is reported that they are trying to get on the phone with the attorney general from the locker room.

But to have the two-time-- presumptive two-time MVP and to have a 60-win team that is favored to get to the NBA Finals with something to play for saying no, we're not playing is a monumental moment in sports history, and it will be copycatted throughout the rest of the NBA. The Milwaukee Bucks have led the way on this because they've had the most experience on this.

What the NBA does, what the Milwaukee-- what the Wisconsin legislature does after this is on them. But from this moment, the NBA players have spoken, and they've stepped forward. And now they've created the most possible-- the most powerful action as a whole by not playing.
