BTS Members Taehyung and Jungkook Shared Their First Taekook Selfie in Three Years

BTS members Kim Taehyung (stage name V) and Jeon Jungkook have officially shared their first selfie together in three years, sending ARMYs everywhere into, ahem, euphoria.

On May 5, Taehyung and Jungkook shared the selca (Korean slang for selfie) on the band’s Twitter account after an afternoon VLive, during which the pair prepared for Parents’ Day (observed in South Korea on May 8).

In addition to the selca, the Vlive was also a long time coming. While both members are fairly active on BTS’ social media accounts, content featuring just the two of them is a somewhat rare occurrence – and one that ARMYs were very much waiting for. As one user noted, “It had been 4 years since the last Taekook live and 3 years since the last Taekook selca...and they both happened again on the same day. We are blessed.”

As time zone after time zone woke up to see what awaited them, fans began trending various related phrases on Twitter, from the portmanteau ship name “Taekook” to commentary after the Vlive ended.

During the broadcast, Taehyung and Jungkook made papier-mâché carnations, a popular Parents’ Day gift, and talked about how they’re spending these unusually quiet days. Jungkook said he’s been practicing guitar and boxing, while Taehyung is working on new music and eating nice food, as well as picking strawberries (possibly with fellow member Min Yoongi, who shared strawberry farm photos last week).

They also held an impromptu duet of Lauv’s “Never Not,” after Taehyung complimented Jungkook on the short cover he posted to Twitter a couple days ago. And of course, they made hearts for fans.

While they didn’t discuss the new album as specifically as other members have, the fact that they’re working on something new was mentioned a couple times. The pair hinted at a meeting that was supposed to happen right after the VLive, and Taehyung was afraid he’d spoiled some of the surprises (even though he didn’t, because both Jimin and Yoongi have mentioned the work process of the new album before).

There are certainly exciting things coming for ARMY (next up, the much-anticipated IU and Suga collaboration coming this week), but hopefully they won’t have to “wait 4 years for the next live and 3 years for the next selca…” — though of course BTS is always worth the wait.
