BTS Member RM Joined Lil Nas X for “Old Town Road” Remix “Seoul Town Road"

Grab your cowboy hats and ARMY Bombs.

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” truly is the gift that keeps on giving, and its latest remix with none other than BTS member RM is the perfect example.

On July 25, the “Panini” singer and Mono rapper introduced their own remix of “Old Town Road” to the world. Aptly named “Seoul Town Road” after the South Korean capital, RM takes center stage in the track, where the BTS leader sings the intro, outro and second verse — also joining in with Lil Nas X for the last chorus.

But it is precisely RM’s own verse that’s garnering the most attention. In it, the rapper sings about his “homis” — not to be confused with "homies." From Hangul “호미,” a homi is a traditional Korean hand plow and, according to Quartz, the “it” gardening tool of spring 2019. A wordplay in true RM fashion.

RM himself joked about the double entendre on BTS’s Twitter account, where he shared a screenshot while listening to the song alongside a self-made cowboy “homi” meme. “Seoul Town Road with my Ho-Mi @LilNasX,” RM wrote on the post.

Lil Nas X also took to Twitter to share some memes and pledge “Seoul Town Road” would be the last remix of his country rap hit. “last one i PROMISSEE,” the artist wrote after the drop, which, ehm, we’re not sure we believe but we’re not mad.

Following the pattern of the previous remixes and the original track itself, the cover for “Seoul Town Road” features — you guessed it — two horses, but introduces a small nod for ARMYs: one of them is purple this time.

“God the purple horse on the album cover is taking me out like how you gonna yeehaw and borahae at the same time,” one ARMY pointed out after seeing the cover art.

“Seoul Town Road” is the fourth official remix (and the first without Billy Ray Cyrus) of the viral hit, which first hit soundwaves back in December 2018 and has been reigning supreme since April atop the Billboard Hot 100 list for a record-tying 16 weeks. And “Seoul Town Road” will only push the yeehaw agenda further since plays for remixes and original songs are computed under a single listing on the Hot 100.

The release of the new remix caught ARMYs by surprise, but they were not unprepared as they made #SeoulTownRoad number 1 trending worldwide on Twitter just hours after its drop — with fellow BTS member Jimin also contributing to the cause.
