BTS’s “Butter” Just Got Usher’s Stamp of Approval

BTS has shown their love for Usher time and time again – and now the American singer is publicly reciprocating it.

On June 2, Usher posted a TikTok set to the global superstars’ new all-English single “Butter,” which, earlier this week, earned the South Korean septet their fourth no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Baby girl, are you ready?” Usher utters in the video, clad in a dandy suit and fur coat combo. (It looks like the video was taken at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, probably when he hosted the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards just one week after the “Butter” release.)

Of course, Usher chose V’s verse from the song for his TikTok, which includes a reference to his 2001 track “U Got It Bad,” and he made sure to also use the lyrics as his caption. “DONT❌NEED🤲🏾NO❌USHER🕴🏾TO✌🏾REMIND💭ME😹YOUVE👉🏾GOT🤲🏾IT🎈BAD🧑🏾‍🌾,” the musician wrote, alongside some hashtags that included “butter challenge” – though sadly no “smooth like butter," which seems to be the septet's preferred option. Regardless, since its posting, the video has accumulated over two million views and 465K likes, not to mention countless fan excitement across social media platforms.

BTS has been more than vocal about their admiration for Usher. The members, particularly Jimin, have name-checked the R&B icon during interviews in the past. The acts even crossed paths during the 2020 Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles in February 2020, and Jimin alluded to the encounter during a post-ceremony VLIVE. “I can’t believe I saw Usher,” he uttered, per the platform's subtitles.

Now that we know the love is mutual, who knows what the future holds? The possibilities are endless, and we are here for every single one of them.
